I regularly get questions from you about online courses for Revit and Dynamo. In this article I summarize my online resources that I use regularly and can recommend:
Linkedin Learning contains many good courses in English, although you can now also find courses on Revit or Dynamo in German, e.g. very recently by Christian Dorst:
Apart from that, I can basically offer you everything from Paul F. Aubin You've probably come across one or two of his books or seen one of his Autodesk University lectures. In any case, Paul is a Revit veteran and produces very high-quality content, here is a small selection:
- Learning Revit 2021
- Revit Architecture: Advanced Modeling
- Revit: Detailing
- Revit: Rendering
- Dynamo: Practical
In addition to Paul, there are of course other professional course instructors on LinkedIn; I also always recommend the Dynamo 2.x Essential Training from Ian Siegel as dynamo entry.
LinkedIn Learning is not free, but you can test it for a month free of charge - or buy the courses individually. As LinkedIn also offers courses on many other topics, it is definitely worth investing in the membership. You can even download content via the mobile app for smartphones/tablets and use it more flexibly on the go/without WiFi access.
In addition to LinkedIn Learning, there are of course also platforms such as Skillshare (courses in English only, from €8 per month) or Udemy (different languages, var. costs per course / no membership), but here you can only find content on Revit or Dynamo - but it might be worth looking here if you are looking for courses on other topics. As these are platforms where anyone can upload content, the quality is not always guaranteed and you also have to question the accuracy of some statements. The same applies to YouTube, of course, but here I can definitely recommend some good channels that produce very good content:
- ORUG Graz (Ortwein Revit Usergroup) - German-language Revit tutorials, also suitable for beginners
- Dynamo DACH User Group Meeting (Playlist on the Autodesk Germany channel) - Recordings of the presentations at the Dynamo DACH Usergroup meetings, more information also in the LinkedIn Group
- Aussie BIM Guru (Gavin Crump) - great tutorials around Revit, BIM, but also Dynamo and programming (Python)
- sixtysecondrevit (John Pierson) - Tutorials and tips about Dynamo
- YourDesk University - Regular LIVE Youtube events on topics related to Revit, Dynamo etc.
- DiRoots Dynamo Advanced Course - a complete and free Dynamo course as a video series, on the same channel you will also find a Basic Course
- M.T.H Revit Tutorials - Revit tutorials with a focus on visualization
Not to forget, of course, the Autodesk University Websitewhere you can access recordings of most of the lectures from recent years free of charge.
In addition, Autodesk has another Autodesk page that you may not yet know: in the Customer Success Hub you will find Learning Paths on various topics including videos and tutorials.
Do you find the links interesting or can you think of any other useful links? I look forward to your feedback!
I would be interested in Revit courses that intensively teach families with parameters, groups, deduction bodies as well as the if formulas, yes/no parameters, angle.... for HLS and other machines. Is there such a thing? To really master this you would need at least a 3 important course.
LG Gaby
Hi Gaby, have you looked at the LinkedIn course for MEP family creation? https://www.linkedin.com/learning/revit-mep-families/welcome?u=67553434
Could possibly be something to start with? Possibly also in combination with the normal (Architecture) Revit Family courses on LinkedIn Learning by Paul Aubin or Eric Wing, many things like shapes, yes/no parameters, angles, etc. can be found there as well!
LG, Lejla
Hello Lejla, thank you very much for the compilation!
