Improved loading times with Autodesk Power BI Connector v3.0.0

Last week, the Autodesk Data Connector for Power BI v3.0.0 was released, announcing a new generation of this connector and offering significantly faster load times – here is a quick comparison:

But that's not all, the connector also comes with:

  • Improved viewer interaction when applying filters
  • Support for filters and slicers when switching between different pages and dashboards
  • Adjusting coordinates when loading multiple models(Read more)

This article explains how to update your existing dashboards and benefit from these advantages.

Steps to update existing dashboards:

  • Load the new Viewer as a custom visual—it is installed in the following folder: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Visuals
  • In the last step, replace the Viewer visual on the dashboard:
    • Select the viewer
    • While the viewer is selected, select the new viewer in Visualizations

The dashboard should now respond significantly faster and support the new features.

The verify the viewer version, selecting the visual on the dashboard and check the About box of the highlighted visual in the Visualizations pane:
