Data exchanges are most frequently generated from Revit, so let's take a closer look today.

There are two ways to create a Data Exchange from Revit:

Data Exchange via Autodesk Docs

The simplest and recommended method is directly via Autodesk Docs, as long as the following requirements are met:

Revit 2023 or newer

At least one published 3D view

View + Download Permissions

A Data Exchange is always created based on a published 3D view - only the elements visible in this view are transferred, as Data Exchange always represents a subset of data.
Note that the Revit view and phase filters are also taken into account and applied to the Data Exchange.

The Data Exchange is stored in the selected folder on Autodesk Docs - as it is granular data, it has no file size and cannot be downloaded.
