Tekla is a specialized software that is very strongly represented in the field of steel construction and partly also precast construction. As a rule, the specialist planners provide the architect with an IFC model which, however, is converted into general components without any parametrics when imported into Revit / ArchiCAD / Allplan etc.. In most cases, this is not a particular problem, as the specialist model only serves as a basis and for checking the architect's model. However, there are also special application areas (such as precast construction) where topics such as the insertion of doors or windows in a Tekla wall become interesting. This is of course not possible with a general component.
The interface between Tekla and Revit has been optimized by a dedicated Tekla team for some time now. Plugins have already been developed for exporting from Tekla (in ifcZIP format) and for importing into Revit, which convert the structural components (walls, columns, beams, foundations) into the corresponding Revit families. This does not yet work completely smoothly, but the plugins are constantly being optimized and can be here can be downloaded.
In order to define further development goals, the development team has now launched a survey to clarify which areas of application Revit users see for the Tekla models in their software.
The survey as well as the announcement (and much more information on this topic) can be found in the Tekla2Revit LinkedIn Forum.
